THE CIY TOUR:

The tour includes a visit to Peshawar Museum, where the visitors will be given breifing about the Artifacts of Peshawar Museum as it is one of the most famous museums in the world known for Gandharan Art.

The next point of the city tour will be Gor Khatri (Warrior’s Grave). This place is famous for Bowl of Buddha, Gorakh Nath Mandir, Caravan Sarai and Fire Brigade Station.

The tour will be concluded at the famous Sethi House, which is famous for its wood work art and structural design building 1880’s.

PESHAWAR MUSEUM:

Peshawar museum was formally known as the Victoria Memorial Hall.It was Built near east end of th
e Mall in 1905. Its long hall flanked by side galleries and with a riased platform, at far end  was the ballroom. The museum has one of the best collection of Gandharan Art in Pakistan, all well arranged and labelled. All the Sculptures present here are illustrating the life of Buddha  and are laid out in chronological order.

SETHI HOUSE:

Sethi street comprises of many houses that belonged to the sethi family merchants , who lived here long ago. The house Is built with a central courtyard and compriises of basements to stay cool in scorching peshawar summer and a two story upper portion. The carved wooden doors, window frames and over hanging balconies are beautiful examples of the joiners craft. There used to be a synagogue nearby which is no longer traceable.

GOR KHATRI:

The meaning of Gor Khatri is warrior’s grave. Gor Khatri was established as the Caravan Sarai by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan’s daughter. During the Mughal Era it was a common Practice throughout the Empire for the local Notables to construct safe places where wealthy merchants could stay. Gor Khatri is an ancient Citadle and has been an important place for travelers for thousands of years. In second century (A.D) Buddhist pilgrims came to visit a shrine and monastery known as the tower of Buddha’s Alms Bowl which was located on the site. Later on in Sikh Dynasty the Masjid built here was demolished by the Sikhs and a temple was constructed and named after Gorakh Nath.
