Tanda Lake is a small water reservoir situated in Kohat District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, overlooking the beautiful Kohat city. The Tanda Lake is an ideal habitat for the migratory birds Black Stork, Grey Heron, Egret, Tufted Duck, Coot that migrate from Siberia and Caspian to spend the winter. Being an important wetland for the migratory birds it is considered a protected site under the Ramsar Convention, an international treaty for the conservation and sustainable utilization of wetlands. Apart from the migratory and indigenous birds, the dam is also home to a large majority of Kohat’s wildlife including several species of Jackal and Wild Fox. Although most of these animals cannot be spotted in the day, but you can enjoy bird watching, and see some of these adorable and beautiful creatures land on the side of the dam walls for a drink and a rest. Also, Tanda Lake is a perfect place for fishing.
