Equipment and Kits for SiriPaye Meadows Trek

If the trip is going to be a simple trekking trip with stays at only housed accommodation, then the travelers need only take personal items like warm clothing, hiking boots, sun creams, hats and others simple stuff. However, if the trip is going to be a camping trip then the group will have to bring full camping equipment with them as there will be no accommodation at either the meadows or the Paye Lake. This equipment will include tents, fly sheets, pegs, precooked food, walking sticks, weatherproof rucksacks, carrying bags and other hiking equipment.

Precautions And Survival Tips

There are some simple tips which should be kept in mind when undertaking this trip.

  • When traveling on jeeps, make sure that the driver is someone who has experience of driving in the mountains. If no such driver is available then hire a jeep from the locals.
  • Always make sure that the trip is undertaken by people who are in good physical shape and not injured.
  • Make sure that all equipment has been kept in good condition so that there are no breakdowns.
  • Make sure that when staying at the lakes, the members of the group do not engage in any activity that destroys the natural habitat of animals.

Precautions

Hikers should take many precautions on this difficult hike:

  1. Make sure the entire journey is undertaken in the given time window when the lake is accessible.
  2. Bring along good equipment and make sure it is waterproof.
  3. Hire local guides on the trip.
  4. Take good care of each hiker, and make sure no one gets injured as rescue efforts are very time-consuming.
  5. Make sure the food is taken in adequate amounts, as there will be no contact with the civilization once you get there
  6. Make sure the hiking is done in a group, and do not let anyone do it solo or away from the group.
